OUR TEAM
The People Behind UnCommon Energy
UnCommon Energy was founded by people who believe the American farmer deserves better representation in the energy market. Our leadership is direct, experienced, and willing to say what other energy companies will not.
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Jack Scatizzi
Managing Director, UnCommon Energy
Jack Scatizzi is a mission-driven operator with nearly 15 years of experience navigating early-stage ventures, uncertainty, and complex organizational challenges. His career spans multiple operator roles and the deployment of early-stage risk capital across angel and venture investments, giving him a uniquely hands-on perspective on what it takes to build and scale from the ground up.
Most recently, Jack served as Executive Director & CEO of Missouri Technology Corporation, a public-private partnership established by the Missouri General Assembly. During his tenure, he led the organization through its first strategic initiative and grew annual distribution from $3.5 million to over $20 million — a testament to his ability to create structure, momentum, and impact in evolving environments.
In 2026, Jack joined UnCommon Farms as Managing Director of UnCommon Energy, where he brings his operational expertise and entrepreneurial mindset to help build and scale innovative energy solutions for agricultural producers and rural communities.
“Too often, farmers are approached with energy opportunities where they don’t fully capture the value being created. We believe the people who steward the land should be the ones who benefit from it.”
— Jack Scatizzi, Managing Director, UnCommon Energy

HEAD OF OPERATIONS
Aaron Mottern
Head of Operations, UnCommon Energy
Aaron Mottern is an entrepreneur and operator with a proven track record of launching and scaling companies across consumer products, digital platforms, and marketing-driven businesses. His career spans product innovation, supply chain development, marketing strategy, and operational growth across multiple ventures — including pioneering the resistance-band apparel category, a testament to his ability to identify opportunity and build from a blank page.
Aaron’s approach centers on turning ideas into scalable businesses through a combination of product development, strategic partnerships, and disciplined execution. What drives him most is work that creates meaningful, long-term impact for the people it touches.
In 2026, Aaron joined UnCommon Farms as Head of Operations for UnCommon Energy, where he brings his entrepreneurial instincts and operational depth to help build and grow energy solutions that make a real difference for agricultural producers and rural communities.
“We start by asking what problem needs solving. Sometimes it’s an energy cost. Sometimes it’s a tax situation. Sometimes it’s a conversation with a developer they don’t know how to evaluate. Our job is to figure out what’s actually keeping them up at night — and find out if energy is the tool that fixes it.”
— Aaron Mottern, Head of Operations, UnCommon Energy

HEAD OF SALES
Matthew Hansard
Head of Sales, UnCommon Energy
As Head of Sales at UnCommon Energy, Matthew leads the development and execution of farmer-owned renewable energy solutions across the Midwest. A growth-focused executive with more than 20 years of experience in financial services and entrepreneurial leadership, he brings a unique blend of financial acumen and on-the-ground agricultural insight to the evolving energy landscape.
Matthew oversees project origination and farmer relationships, aligning capital, tax strategy, and infrastructure development with the long-term economics of agricultural operators. Operating at the intersection of finance, energy, and rural enterprise, he structures projects that are both technically sound and financially compelling. His work is centered on building a farmer-aligned energy platform designed to strengthen rural balance sheets while advancing the next generation of distributed energy infrastructure.
“Every farmer I talk to has already been called by a developer. What they haven’t had is someone sit across from them who isn’t trying to close a deal. That’s a different conversation — and it changes everything about what’s possible for their family.”
— Matthew Hansard, Head of Sales, UnCommon Energy

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Jason Loyet
Business Development, UnCommon Energy
Jason Loyet brings more than 20 years of national power development experience to UnCommon Energy. A deal architect by trade, he has spent two decades originating, structuring, and closing distributed energy projects across the country, including solar, battery storage, microgrids, and emerging AI compute infrastructure.
A seasoned power development executive and entrepreneur, Jason specializes in land and power origination, utility strategy, and structuring aligned partnerships that move projects efficiently from concept to construction. His work spans commercial solar, community energy, and rural power markets, where he applies a disciplined yet entrepreneurial approach to execution, capital alignment, and long-term value creation.
Jason operates at the intersection of infrastructure, technology, and economic development, unlocking opportunities where strategic vision and practical implementation must move in sync. He previously served on the board of the Tennessee Solar Energy Industries Association and was recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy with the national SunShot Catalyst award for driving down soft costs in solar.
“The energy transition is creating real wealth opportunities for landowners across rural America — and most of them don’t know it yet. Our job is to make sure the farmers who built this land are the ones who capture that value, not the outside capital that shows up with a lease agreement.”
— Jason Loyet, Business Development, UnCommon Energy
